IT:AD:Word:HowTo:Create Numbered Headers
Summary
I like knowing where I am in a doc, using Numbering on the Headers.
But I also want them to be small and discrete.
Process
Create a new MultiLevel List:
- In Word
- In the Doc
- Create a Header1 entry, and ensure you are on it before proceeding.
- On the Menu
- On the Home tab
- Select the options on 'MultiLevel List'
- To save yourself some effort choose one of the default List Styles:
- That will put a numbered prefix before the header.
- Let's now make one.
- On the Menu
- On the Home tab
- Select the options on 'MultiLevel List'
- This time, select Create a new MultiLevel List.
- Turns out that the Dialog that pops up will take its queues from the list currectly on.
- And that's where you can set the Font, and Size for each level (eg: Consolas, 10, Ligth gray)
What you don't need really is a List Style. It's nice and simple this way.
