Self Defence
Summary
“The martial arts are ultimately self-knowledge. A punch or a kick is not to knock the hell out of the guy in front, but to knock the hell out of your ego, your fear, or your hang-ups.”

“I fear not the man who has practiced 10,000 kicks once, but I fear the man who has practiced one kick 10,000 times.”

Summary
I learnt the hard way that learning to fight…leads to fighting.
Once I learnt that, I looked for a way to avoid fighting, while remaining capable of defending myself, and those I love.
Depending on how much time you have, I would recommend the following two routes:
- Aikido – which will take a long time to learn, but ingrain in your the concept of looking for peace.
- Vee Arnis Jitsu – which will skip it all, in order to get to self defence only.
- Start with this, get safe, then learn the softer skills, the mental calmness that Aikido will provide.
