Summary
We've already established (Create a Data Collector Set) that a Data Collector Set is the container that contains zero or more Data Collectors.
So once you've created a Data Collector Set, you finish off by defining at least one Data Collector.
One can make an individual Data Collector in order to collect various types of information (Registry Key Settings at a given time, Performance Counter Values, Event trace entries).
Probably the most common scenario is the creation of a Data Collector for Performance Counters.
An example of the reasoning behind creating a Data Collector Set with more than one Data Collector is that it could be helpful when looking at the data later to know what the registry settings were, and whether the event log had interesting messages as to why the Performance Counters were indicating a drop in performance.
