Janka Rating: the hardness of the wood (harder is better for maintenance against wear & tear from kids & dogs).

Options
- Hardwood floor
- Bamboo
- Bamboo can be hard – which is good to handle scratching by pebbles, etc. – but it must be able to drain (grass absorbs more water than wood).
- Stained Concrete:
- Note that stained/painted concrete1) could (maybe…) be an option for outdoor patios. A bit of stretch, as I'm really not sure a) how it would last in the sun over 20 years, b) how to repair, c) where to find skills to do it right, etc.
- Not surprising, everything is variable. But in general, tiles cost more than wood2).
