IT:AD:SharePoint:Installation

If installing Sharepoint and K2 on the same box, It appears that Install SharePoint after installing K2 is better. Observed behavior is that if Sharepoint is installed first, K2 then blows out small stuff. Themes stopped working, popups stopped working, etc.

• Important: Cannot install Sharepoint on a Domain Controller
• Run the SharePoint Products Preparation Tool: installs all prerequisites.
• May need to restart.
• [Setup]/[Install SharePoint Foundation]
• Select StandAlone to start install:
  • installs SQL Server 2008 Express and SharePoint.
  • Note: can take ages while downloading updates.
  • Can get error saying: Microsoft SharePoint server 2010 encountered an error during setup. One or more required office components failed to complete successfully. and to consult install logs.

• Run [SharePoint Products Configuration Wizard]:

  • install the SharePoint Central Administration Web site
  • creates your first SharePoint site collection.

  * Configure browser settings.

• Perform post-installation steps.
