Attendance may be at either a *Full Primary School*, or a combination of the *Contributing Schools* and *Intermediate Schools*.\\ Each student’s ability in reading, writing, and mathematics is periodically assessed using moderated peer reviewed Overall Teacher Judgement (OTJ)s. Primary schools are currently in the process of adopting Progress and Consistency Tool (PaCT) to assist with the development, filing and progress tracking of OTJs.

Level 1 NCEA exams are usually studied for in Year 11, level 2 studied for in Year 12, level 3 studied for in Year 13.\\ The Ministry is mandated to monitor *enrolment* and *attendance*, while, NZQA is mandated to monitor *achievement*.
