{{indexmenu>.#2|nsort tsort}}
Development costs for custom builds are so expensive that one quickly turns to looking at what's already available.

### Considerations ###
Kits are made for mass appeal, to be delivered to locations where lots of people live. If the location is high winds, coastal, etc. expect the prices to go up.
They're also designed for low cost construction, which will limit the ability to resell the house in the upper half of market prices for any area.

* G J Garnder:
* Notes:
* Really look like a suburbia retirement home...Weird plunked down in a lifestyle block.
* Custom Hit Homes((https://www.customkit.co.nz/))
* Notes:
* Really looks nice.
* But note that the price is for the shell only, without insulation, fixtures, windows, internal siding.
* Gold Pine((http://www.goldpine.co.nz/)).
* Notes:
* It's for barn homes -- but as Steve demonstrated, can be converted to homes.
* The question is whether they can be made to look like anything more than a bach, and command better sale prices.
* Barnkit((http://www.barnkit.nz/))
* Notes:
* They offer a half-barn half-house solution. Might be interesting to look further into that, and whether the bays can be used in any way.
* TotalSpan((https://totalspan.co.nz/barnhouse))
* Notes:
* Steel based. Missing the charm of wood.
* But looks straight forward.

* Nice, but maybe too pricey (see brochure) for a decent sized house.
