Summary

A NAS is basically an easy and self-contained File Server which provides File Shares across the Network.

Notes

Key differences between SAN and NAS are that NAS's handle the client part of accessing to the block storage (hard drive) – whereas SANs are mounted into the client computer as an actual drive.
