IT:AD:Markdown:HowTo:Standard Markdown Syntax

Summary

The standard syntax is the most well-known.

Unfortunately, it's not hugely powerful, and some things are still evolving. Namely: * Tables * StrikeThru * Colour * Intra-Site References

Hence you should also be aware of IT:AD:GFM and Creole

The following is a quick breakdown of the standard syntax:

# Header1 #
## Header2 ##
### Header3 ###

*Italic* (note this)
**Bold** (note this, it's important)
***Bold Italic*** (note this, it's very important)

A list of items can be started with stars:

* Milly
* Molly
* Mandy

Whereas an ordered list is done as follows:

0. Uno
0. Dos
0. Tres

A line to separate sections can be done as follows:

---

#### Header 4 ####
##### Header 5 #####
###### Header 6 ######

> Blockquotes are started with the right bracket.

Finally, it's important to understand the paragraphs flow on to
the next line, depending on the width of the screen, unless you
specifically instruct the break to occur by ending the line with
two blank spaces.

Some things not handled by Standard Markdown are:

* Strikethru
* Tables
* Code Blocks
